We hope you’re settled into 2026 and working towards a successful year. With a lot of the year left in front of us, we’d like to share some details on key topics we see playing out now and through the remainder of the year - Pay Day Super and Computer Hardware / Component Availability.
Payday Super law comes into effect on the 1st of July 2026, after passing legislation in November 2025. In simple terms, employers will need to pay staff super guarantee contributions at the same time as wages, rather than quarterly.
ACR have been monitoring these developments in the lead-up to and since the law was passed. We are currently making modifications to the system to allow for the more regular payment of super, tying it in with the standard payroll process - and in turn enabling an efficient way to meet the new requirements.
In addition to Payday Super, and to complement it, new mandatory requirements for reporting of Super in Single Touch Payroll to the ATO will come into effect from July 1st. We have likewise been working on those developments and will soon head into compliance testing with the ATO.
At this stage, we anticipate that the changes for Payday super will be deployed in April to ensure users of the ACR Payroll System are prepared for the mandatory changes beginning on July 1st. The ACR Training Team will communicate further details as that time approaches.
You may have heard on the news that across the global supply chain, demand for core components including memory (RAM), storage (SSD), and processing hardware continues to accelerate.
This is being driven by sustained investment in AI infrastructure, high-performance computing, and large-scale data environments.
In discussions with key suppliers, we are also receiving the same news, with advice to anticipate upward price pressures, variability on lead times and increased competition for specific memory or storage components - for example effecting servers and mobile computers (like warehouse scanners).
We are sharing this purely as a planning insight. If your organisation is already considering server refreshes, warehouse scanning expansion, or device lifecycle replacement during 2026, there may be value in reviewing those timelines sooner rather than later.
